Good morning guys,

My recently bought Freelander Sport TD4 is nearly due it's next service, mileage is currently 53k.

Been reliably informed the service I require is a 60k service so I called the stealer for a price - £490 incl parts, labour and VAT.

I am just wondering what this service involves based on the price - I am guessing it's classed as a 'major' service?

Thanks

Simon

This should help. Right click and select "save picture as" to save it to yer puter.

You're fast Hippo - just posted up the link to your post - wow!
All he needs is the RAVE link and he is all set.

Thanks guys that's most useful, I can't help thinking that it maybe worth keeping the history with LR going as it's relatively low miles and not that old really.

What's the 'rave' link you are speaking of?

I am waiting for a price back from my local LR Indy to see how different it is to the stealers.

Thanks

Si

Main dealers operate an Allegiance Card scheme for LR’s 3 years or older. Costs £25 to join, but this is refunded when you have the next service. Gives you cheaper servicing labour, service parts and stuff like tyres etc. Repair rate is still the normal approx £100 inc vat. I get 10% off parts ordered from them. You'll still find independents cheaper. If it were me then I'd choose an independent Lr specialist, rather than just any independent. They sometimes don't bother with the extra things on 4x4's like checking oil in the ird/rear diff.

Independent LR specialist that I use quotes £192+ change ,all in, for a 60k service and they bring me back home and pick me up when the car's ready.
Can't think why anyone would pay Main Stealer prices.
A good Indie offers just as good a service if not better for a fraction of the cost.

The alleigance scheme sounds interesting from a parts point of view, will have to look into that i think.

Sounds like the Indy could be the way to go especially the price talldavey gives for his 60k service!! Big difference, the other thing I have to consider is my local stealer is about 45 mins away where as the Indy is only 10.

Will see what price he comes back with.

Well the stealer price was £490 for the 60k service and £230 for the clutc master cylinder, the indy came out at £300 for the 60k service and £190 for the clutch master cylinder.

So for the price of a service at the stealers I got a service AND clutch problem sorted!! It's being done as we speak, although just had a call to say one out of the three bushes o the rear diff is warn and this needs to be replaced so should all be done or tomorrow.

All set for the wintry months now!

Having access to a really good indy is invaluable, i just had my 72k service (service B) done for £249 all inclusive by my local independent, they collected/delivered the car for me and washed it AND vacuumed it - brilliant service, if any one is in the west yorkshire area, i recommend elland independent land rover centre - 5 mins away from junction 24 M62.
