Hi all,

Just firstly I would like to thank all previous posters on this forum which advice I have read through and saved myself a fortune.

Now for my question....

Just got myself a 300 TDI Disco a few weeks ago (after I finally binned my troublesome Freelander) and noticed that the rear electric windows seem to work when they feel like it. It seems like after a few minutes of starting the engine they start to work almost as if they are on a time delay.

Can anyone shed any light on what is going on and how can I rectify it?

Many thanks in advance....

Hi i had the same problem last week.
On the passenger side. Unscrew and remove the glove box. When you have unscrewed it there are 2 arms either side, just lift them up and you will see where they come out through 2 slots.
Looking underneath on the farthest left side is a black ECU box with 2 plugs pushed into the front of it. Try wiggling the plugs first to see if the windows work.
If this fails take out the plug and using a precision screw driver remove the plastic cover on front of the box then pull the board out, bit fiddly but it does come out. Check all the soldering points and resolder as necessary.

Hiya guys, on an associated subject, my rear windows work fine if I operate them using the respective rear door buttons, but when I try to lower the rear window on the drivers side using the buttons on the centre console I get nothing.

If I drop the window using the door button, but then try to close it using the console button - it works !!!!

I'm assuming this indicates a faulty button, so my question is, how do you get the centre console window buttons panel out?? Is it just plastic tabs or some other method of fixing?

All advice welcome, thanks very much

Cheers
Dave

The cover over the window switches just pulls off, get a small screwdriver underneath it and it flips out. Beneath this there is a panel with screws in each corner, unscrew these and this allows you to get to the back of the switches.

Thanks for that Archies, it was just as you said.

Sun's out, surf's up, I'm off out on my bike for a little blast :D :D

Thanks again

Thanks for your help.

This afternoon I followed all your advice and found what seems to be a bad solder joint on one of the relays on the circuit board. I resoldered all the surrounding joints and fingers crossed so far it seems to work. Only time will tell if I have done a good job.

Many thanks!
Chris.
