Hi,

MOT tomorrow and thought best to change the dead lightbulb of third brake light. Did so and now ABS, TC and Diff Lock amber lights are on. Any ideas what the problem can be and how to get rid of it?

Something similar happened about a month ago after the fuel filler flap bent a bit whilst refuelling...I then bent it back into place and no problems since. Now I can't open the filler flap from the inside so I'm wondering if this could be a related problem? Does the filler flap have some kind of sensor?

I tried raising and lowering the air suspension and that works - read somewhere that if doors aren't closed it doesn't work (filler flap). For some reason the rear right airbag went down whilst I was changing the light though it hold air all night when I tried it last time.

Most importantly, please give me some tips how to get rid of the amber lights.

Thanks in advance

Hi Bigeeee,

I'm located in Slovakia at the moment, hoping to register the car over here (currently UK plates) and tomorrow its due and MOT before registering.

I haven't checked the fuses, is it quit easy to tell if they are blown?

Cheers

Remove it, have a look to see if the metal strip inside is in one piece

Brilliant! Just went through all of the fuses and none were blown...however, just taking them out and reinserting them has made the problem disappear.

Thanks Bigeeee!

Next job is mending a leaking roof :) but that can wait till after the mot.

Bet it only leaks when it rains!! :p

If removing the fuses solved the problem, sounds like the rear of your fuse box may be starting corrode due to your roof leaks

There didn't seem to be any water damage or even any evidence of water being there....thankfully my car is LHD and the leak is on the right...it drips nicely into the footwell of the passenger seat :) I don't think its the sunroof though...when I inspected it the other day the rubber seal thing which is very close to the roof gutter seems loose. Do you think I'll need to get the windshield re-fitted by someone like Autoglass or should I just fill it with silicone? The problem only got worse when I fiddled with the end of the rubber bit :)

It's been raining for the past 3 days over here, so I've started noticing the leak a bit...I've always wanted a water feature, though didn't realise they came standard on a D2 :) What is also very cool and I've never seen before, is the built in digital compass on my inner mirror!

Your body control Unit (BCU) is located at the rear of your glove compartment and may have also suffered from water ingress.

Sieraferry will be along soon, this is his forte

Blimey, that doesn't sound very good! I'll get a bucket full of silicone tomorrow!

Thinking about it though, the previous owner said he didn't have any problems with the leaky roof and I didn't have any for the first 2 months of ownership until I started fiddling with the rubber thing I mentioned earlier.

Went out to check just now as a 30 minute rainstorm has just passed. The headlining is wet immediately below the rubber seal and there is a tiny bit of water in the footwell...thankfully none has gone down the inside of the windshield to the area behind the glovebox...will need to sort it out before it really does cause some damage.
