just got defender v8 110 county - first land rover - 1990 model
just some advice please
should the wipers park automatically when you switch them off on this model or do i have to continue to try and judge when to switch off so the blades are in correct position

Sounds like you need a new park switch for your wiper motor.;)

i'll put a few on in the next few days
trying to get my head around what needs doing, like giving myself some lights that actually allow you to drive at night, sorting out a few electrical issues and generally tarting the thing up.
regarding lights if i fit halogen replacements do i need to upgrade the looms?

No. If you're going to get shot of the sealed beams and replace them with halogens get yer arse into halfords and buy their 90% brighter bulbs. They're usually £20 each but are currently on BOGOF. They give 90% more light for the same 55/60w of a normal bulb.
 
^^^^ I second that. Bought Wipac lamps and bowls for my Ninety and a pair of those uber-bright bulbs from Halfords - suddenly I can actually see when I'm driving in the dark!
 
what is it about car manufacturers i got a v8 bmw 540 2 years ago with about every known extra (i have a thing about v8 engines) and yet the lights were appalling so had to upgrade those
will sort out some photos this weekend
