Hi everyone

TD5 Still having fuel pump problems, Whinning and bubbling as if air in the syestem. Purged in all ways possible, replaced fuel pump in the reservoir, changed the filters twice one Britpart, one Landrover genuine, blown compressed air down all fuel line, checked for leaks in hoses. So all that end is checked and bearing new parts. All that leaves is the engine side which is a bit beyond my knowledge.
The fuel regulator was replaced last year because of a fuel leak. apart from that I have not gone beyond.

Reading Landy Forums lots of different diagnosis, head hurts.

Something I read, was about the oil level being high and was related to injector seals in need of replacing. Just checking my levels and it is higher than I would normally fill it. can that be linked to my fuel pump problem???

I've done what I can and thought of everything to remedy the problem, now I need a mechanic who knows his Landy's.

The pump that I took out was a year old, and the filters mesh caked in black sludge.

Thanks to you both, I did hear about the cylinder head crack thing and was tring not to think about it.
When a garage plugs its computer to the vehicle, does not that kind of info come up, loss of pressure etc. etc.
a local garage hooked it up and told me they could see know faults

A year later, touch wood all is good again.
after changing the injector loom due to oil leaking into the cpu. the problem continued. So yes I was now pretty sure I had an injector problem. Though this was beyond my capabilities, so found a LandRover mechanic who is local and considered a genius when it comes to Landys. also a legend here in France after winning or taking part in the Paris Dakar.
So on my way to him, with a mate following in his Discovery, my defender looses power and stops dead, the discovery tows me to the garage.
Totain 4x4 take over, after telling them of my injecter problem, he goes ahead and changes the seals, later I pick it up and it does the samething.
This is where the problem starts, he starts to tell me that I dont want to spend money on injectors just yet, so he convinces me that he has to check the fuel pump, regulator, turbo and of course these parts can't be reused. new parts installed, the head comes off and I think the cylinder bores bit is sent to a specialist to be tested and mesured (did not really understand this bit), he carries on testing without finding my problem. all the time this is costing me parts and labour.
finally I say just replace the injectors, and hey presto, she breathes again. he had the vehicle for three months and we got the Defender back last September, since then no problems.
I am no mechanic, but every thing I read on this forum and others pointed to injectors. this cost me a fortune and time lost. was he right or wrong in his procedure, I will never know.
