Take one 90 with a knackered 19j engine

And one disco with a seemingly sweet running 300tdi engine in it

I paid £600 for this, it's got 4 months MOT remaining so I could drive it home, it cost £28 for a days insurance and 20 odd quid for tax. It ran nice and quiet and no pressure from the oil filler. Planning on giving it a full service before I fit it so I've bought a cam belt kit, 'p' gasket, new water pump (just in case) and rocker cover gasket as it looks like it's been leaking a bit.

Started to strip the 90 today, took my time with it and took plenty of pictures just for reference of how to put it back together.

It now looks like this

One of the problems/bonuses of 265's is there's plenty of room to get underneath on my crawler jobber but I need a step up to get over the wing

Everything should be disconnected but I'll give it the once over before I pull the engine, thank God I've got small hands cos some of the bolts on the back of the engine were a git to get at, but as the light was starting to drop I made a start on the Disco instead of pulling the engine out.

I think the rad is knackered:(

Time to start packing away at the end of day one, cleaning all my tools and stopping everything from rattling in the wind. I keep toying with doing this..

For the first time I've been disciplined when it came to gloves so not to much scrubbing:D

Back to work tomorrow but I've got 4 days off coming up, should be finished early enough to get to Craddocks after work for a new rad and temp sensor. I'll keep you all posted.....

Bits bought so far...

Disco £600
Service bits £6
water pump £18 PEB500090
timing kit with gears £49 STC4096L
clutch release bearing £8 FTC5200
rear oil seal and gasket £19 LUF100430+ERR6811
rad £90 BTP2275
temp sensor £6 AMR3321
inlet manifold gasket £6 ERR3785
fan belt £8 ERR5911
slave cylinder £20 591231G
timing cover seals £19 ERR7143 ERR4576G ERR3356G ERR4575G (one of these is incorrect so it'll be going back)

I'll add to this as I go along to try and give an idea of costs, but I'll be ebaying the bits of the disco once I've finished and then weighing in what's left, the interior is far from good, fag smoke and wet dogs, nice.......

good start,i think all discos were edc but not sure as theres different temp sensors fitted non edc is on the thermostat housing edc is in the head so you need the correct part number, rads can be dear and i had a load of **** off a seller on ebay when i replaced mine no baffle had been fitted so it caused my 300 to overheat

Not all disco's were edc. I broke one for spares last year with an accelerator, that was a P plate and I've just bought an other N plate and that's non edc as well.

Thanks for the info so far, bed time for me I'm afraid as I'm up at half three in the morning for work.

I'll try and get a picture up of the injector pump tomorrow but until then once again thanks
