No landy is totally safe but in addition to several measures already fitted I've just invested in two sets of high security garage door locks, the hardened pin has a 70mm throw and hardened receiver, 3 keys etc etc

but I have no garage...... the idea is to mount them inside my four station wagon doors and have the bolt going through the door frame steel carcass and into the b or c pillar (ie front or rear doors)

yes it is still possible I suppose to angle grind through the doors but every little helps....

You got a link for them mate please?
And do you know if you can get multiple keyed the same?

no idea about the keys, im hoping the pair are matched meaning I will need 2 keys (front then rear)

found em on ebay

Garage door bolts lock high security for up & over defender key | eBay

I have no idea on quality yet and know nothing of the company but have taken a chance and think fitting will be easy, they were the only ones I found with a bolt with enough 'throw'

cheers steve
Cheers mate much appreciated:)
Yeah it was the long throw I noticed as well, have been looking at the "hook" type dead lock but these look much easier to fit through the door frames etc.

top seller, cancelled order straight away n I've ordered matched pairs....

hmm a nail... or a rampant rabbit jury rigged to the 240 volt inverter... that'll teach the gits lol

cheers steve

Might find you end up fighting the other half for who's going to drive it if you do that;)

Been away for a few days however arrived back at work this morning to find them waiting for me, 4 locks, 6 matching security keys (paid a little extra to get them all matched) and all the ancils,

Bolt throw is more than enough, locks slim enough to fit inside the door below the height of the steel framework, quality seems excellent... should be an absolute doddle to fit and will update when fitted.... very happy with em and for £50 to do all four doors ... bargain

now just need to look for a van door lock for the rear...

Cheers Steve

Sounding good:)
Could you not have used the same type for the rear door as well?

I worry that having too many locks on show would indicate that there IS something worth breaking into for!

It happened with my old works van.

It was parked outside the house with those circular type door locks These:

Nothing was taken but the rear windows(although whited out) were smashed. The Police said its probably due to having too much security. The thieving toe rags think there must be something worthwhile inside and will break in anyway on the off chance its an easy take.

Kinda catch 22 i suppose :(

Your damned if you do and damned if you don't!

I think you are damned if you don't with a Defender. A window smash is nothing compared to losing your truck. Also all the visible security mods make it less appealing, more non standard holes make it harder to sell parts and easier to identify. Why bother when there is factory Defender with no mods down the road. Reasoning, if you have deadlocks, what other surprised might the casual thief have to deal with. C
