Well...as some of you may have read before, I have been looking for a Defender for a few weeks and at last yesterday I bought one!

Called her "Tango" :)

Think I got a good deal though, this used to be a land rover garage run about... it's a J plate (92) with a Disco engine in it.
Chassi is solid, floors and rear x member, bulkead is good too!
The door bottoms are rotten, but other than that is quite good.

The engine pulls like a train, I can actually drive in 5th gear, get to 70mph, loads of power going uphill.. fekin brilliant!

I paid just over 2,5k... considering I've been watching defenders on ebay for the last weeks, going for close to 3k and they are 1986-88...I think I did pretty well..

First things to do is get rid of that tyre on the bonnet, put my disco tyres on it and get a snorkel..
it currently has a conic K&N on it, so I need to get a air filter housing off a disco 200 and get a snorkel too...

Here's some pics just taken outside my house today.. :)

good on ya mate welcome to the proper world of landie ownership ;)
i concur with madusa i like the colour too but then i always seem to stand out in a crowd anyway :D

Nice one, good colour. At least no-one can say smidsy ... ;).

While in Norfolk over the new year we saw a bright yellow Disco .. seriously considering it for mine ... ;)

Class colour, no need to be unseen!!!!

Love the black rims too, works well and looks a tad menacing!!

super job.

scrap tyhe disco and put the nice bits in the shed for spares....

Feck that ... scrap the Disco and pass the good bits on to paupers .. like me ... ;)

Quite like the extended wheel arches ... and I fancy a winch bumper, and a decent steel rear one ... ;)

lot to be said for using the disco for spares if you got the room (or is that other disco behind the deepender yours too?)
the bumper might fit (will be less prone to digging in like mine :D)
also need to get a couple of rubber bungs for the jacking points on the front chassis rails (wont do to fill the chassis up with crap ;) )
oh and needs som dirt on it too ;) :D
p.s. have to get shot of the tow hitch on the back too that will slow ya down in the crap and approach/departure angles

Rust wise is good, the rear x member is fine (its not the original one!), the chassi is sound, didnt find any rust holes or places where its about to go..
the bulkead is good too, bit of rust on the inside only, but not major..
the only really rusted area is the door bottoms on the inside, but in the summer will sort it out and put some plates in...

just been out doing some bits on it and have found out you can't replace a bulb on them!
I dont have dipped on the left side, but have main beam... weird funny headlamps, never seen anything like it, they are completly sealed..! is this the case of getting a new one?

The Disco behind the Defender is off a mates, waiting to get a cambelt change done.

My disco has 2 months left MOT....just need to weld a plate on the rear cross member and a 6inch plate on the rear passenger footwell, over the sill and that's it.

Get it through the MOT and sell it on.
All extras included, not going to take anything out. Also included 4 spare doors, a transfer box, steering box and steering rod

the headlights are called sealed beam units, used to get them on older cars like minis and other morris/leyland cars plus plenty of other makes.once a filament goes its time for either a new sealed unit or change them for the standard bulb type.;)
