Hawkeye update

Having had my Hawkeye for just over 6 months decided to E mail Bearmach to find out about new upgrade, seems version 5 has just been released.

They have requested that I either send the unit back to them for free upgrade or they can send me a disc but I would have to buy a power cable and also PC connecting cable at around £20 each.

I can't see the point in spending £40 to upgrade when after the 1st year I presume I would have to pay for any further upgrades rendering the cables u/s.

Think i'll send them the unit unless there is any reason not to?

Make sure that you've got the serial number, even better a few pictures of the unit and the serial number then send it recorded or whatever means that they've got to sign for it.

At least they responded to your e-mail. I asked exactly the same thing last week and never got a reply.

Did they say what V5 adds? I rather expect that once you have the cables, it will work for future upgrades as well!

Cant fault them, took 12 mins to respond to my email, I never asked what the upgrades were.

Here's their response

here are two ways of doing this.

1. Return to Bearmach and we will upgrade for you FOC

2. We can send you an upgrade disc FOC but you will need to purchase BA 5079+BA 5079A (power source and upgrade cable) to upgrade your unit.

After the upgrade you will need a new unlock code to activate the unit again.

Can you let me know which and we can go from there?

24hr turnaround from Bearmach to update my Hawkeye to version 5.

They sent a spec for it being

Diesel EMS - Read & clear DTC's Live data Actuators & Programming
Petrol EMS - Read & clear DTC's Live data ECM data Actuators & Maintenance
Transmission - Read & clear DTC's Live data ECM data Program & Maintenance
ABS - Read & clear DTC's Live data ECM data Actuators Program & Maintenance
Airbag - Read & clear DTC's ECM data
Security - Live data Actuators & Maintenance
Chassis - ACE Suspension - Read & clear DTC's Live data ECM data Actuators & Program
Chassis - WABCO D ABS/SLABS - suspension - Read & clear DTC's Live data ECM data Actuators & Maintenance

Think that covers earlier versions as well and is not just the version 5 update

Got the full spec brochure but see Bearmach have yet to put it on their site.

So if we get free updates for the first year of owning a hawkeye, whats the price of updates after that? Do they check when you ask for the unlocking code required after an update?

Don't buy the cable and power supply, I bought them when I first bought the unit, Clive sent me the CD with the upgrade on it and I could not make it work. So I phoned them and they said send it to us and we will do the upgrade. I sent it by special delivery (before 1pm) and they turned it around same day and I got it back in the next mornings post. Excellent service. Very pleased with it.

Biggeeeee, Who told you the upgrades were chargeable after the first year? I was never told that either when I bought my Hawkeye or when I have spoken to them since.

Hi , have buy a update cable without a power supply , can someone here tell me what is the voltage and mini amp ( of amp ) for the power supply

this weird but i bought my hawkeye march 2013 and it came with v 5.0 on it already

know its a daft question but as mine is for a hippo do they then release different versions on different models

The software will be different for different models so quite likely the updates will be different, I think the P38 Hawkeye is up to V6

I think all LR licenses are currently version 6, which is the software inside the hawkeye. The license just allows certain models to work. There will be updates between version 5 and 6 but it may or may not effect all models. I'm looking to get mine updated in a bit.

fyi. next month they are updating to version7 for the discovery. so they told me last week.

got in touch with bear mach and asked them why i kept getting data cable error , have t heard anything back yet

also got the adaptor , think its the green adaptor

hopefully they will come back to me if not will ring them

Random faults like that happen all the time on all hawkeye's. I thinks down to luck on catching the timing correctly on the comms.

i think ur spot on , as can get into some of the system then it decides to throw its toys out of the pram and the computer says no

maybe with an update it may cure these annoying problems as they are expensive things to buy and think it should perform correctly

When it says "press enter to..." wait a few seconds before pressing enter. If yer only just turned the ignition on it takes a few seconds for the computers to do the next stage of their activity, which may delay them talking. After the short wait it will probably go it to the next screen ok most of the time.

thks buddy, i am gulity of that and do indeed press the button to quickly

will make sure i take more time in proceeding through the pages

have update from 5 to 6 to mine expectation I see no different between the to version
for mine EDC P38 ....

about to send mine off for the v6 update and found them very helpfu and l are going to test out the unit, leads and adaptor for me at the same time and all foc

not often u get a company that has good customer service these days
