hollly ****, do you know why, or where it started. i have felt like doing that to mine a few times..

parked down lane, not that i'm suspicious

Still at least one p38 disaster less on road:D

Having owned one, bag of ****

it started in the trans tunnel . first gate way i got to off the road on way home from town . insurance company are arseholes only offering market value when i paid 4500 3 months ago then another grand spent on a transfer box a month ago am going to loose out big time , ****ed right off with it

What year and what is the market value?
Thought insurance should give what it would cost to replace without having to get lucky on a good price for one.
I had a 1998 A4 1.8. Worth around £800 to sell on and be realistic but after a rear end collision, I discovered if I wanted to easily replace it via autotrader or forecourt, it would cost more like £1800.

They gave me £1700, mustn't grumble. RR swallowed all of it by now though.

Might be worth trying to buy the wreck back from them and strip out the transfer box etc. That should get you a bit more money back.

Always worth arguing with insurance companies as they always try it on.

Don't settle for their first offer and again you can use the small claims court against them if the offer is plainly ridiculous.

i paid that much for it because i knew the car it was bought from a friend who had spent loads on it keeping it up together and thought it was worth the money

Start looking around at adverts. You'll find plenty at traders for sale for loads more than that. Use those adverts as evidence in your negotiations with the insurance company.

I really would look at getting the wreck back though. If it's as good as you think then you could make quite a bit out of the mechanicals.

More often than not, I'm more than happy with mine and think myself fortunate to be in a position to have one, working and roadworthy.
Rest of the time, burn it hahahaha.

had the insurance offer me 4 grand today he said he had found the exact match for my one within 40 miles of me i told them was no way i going to accept that when i got home and looked it had no side steps and to top it all was a manual !!

Well at least they're negotiating. TBH, £4k doesn't sound too bad to me, but was that from a dealer?

You should be looking at dealer prices, I would have thought.

Did you tell them it had a new transfer box in it? (can I have it?).

Guy

I reckon £4k a very good price.. theres hundreds out there for far less. Theres a 51 plate near us at a dealers for £5k.
