has anyone fitted hid headlights to there P38 without the bulb failure warning message coming on when flicking from high to low beam?

spose a way round is to have a relay that draws the same current as the bulbs?????

just fitted a set of bi-xenon hids to my p38 using the supplied wiring loom and it only used one plug of the light plugs to activate them which was causing fault messages and i am currently making some new wiring looms that utilise both plugs for each ballast and it does clear the faults but for the high and low beam ive got to put in a relay to utilise the magnet on the bi-xenon light bulb for the high and low on paper i think ive got it sused so i will be giving it a go tonight if i get home early enough if it all works i will post a wiring diagram for all you chaps out there.:)

managed to get the wiring loom sorted so hear goes this is how its done 1:-take the earth lead to the ballast and the earth from the bi-xenon magnet on the bulb and wire to the earth on the light 3 pin plug 2:-then wire the the live from the ballast to both the high and low but before the live connects to the high beam plug you need to put in a diode 3:- then connect the live from the magnet on the bulb directly to the high beam. that it job done no more bulb failure messages. diode needs to be a minumum of 12v 5 ampree i will make a wiring diagram in the next couple of days and get it posted
 
I have fitted a set of 10,000k rated Bi-xenons and they are great.......BUT i also get the messages, when i turn them on it says " RH DIPPED BEAM BULB FAILURE" and "LH DIPPED BEAM BULB FAILURE" also if a flash someone its says "RH MAIN BEAM BULB FAIULRE" and "LH MAIN BEAM BULB FAILURE". The kit uses 35w and not the 55w a standard bulb does, so i contacted the seller who sold me a set of resistors (20w) to bump up the wattage but these make no difference. I also have 1 connector just loose in the engine bay as it only uses one off the original bulb plugs. i am pretty good with electrics but this one has me stumped!!! i think maybe the 3 pin connector that plugs into the original bulb plug might have the wires the wrong way, dipped/main / main/dipped e.t.c but you would think that would make main beam come on when you turn your lights on and dipped when you flash. I will be watching this post closely as it annoys me. Also if anyone wants to PM me with there number who has a fix i will ring you to chat about it. surely there's a way to fix this problem.

i was chatting with a chap that installs these things for a living

i mentioned i was interested and what about the resitance-less problem you get on p38`s

he mentioned that on the new generation of HID sets you could the resitace on them.

downside is you would uses more juce that a normal HID install - but it would be big enough to keep the p38`s warning pacified

next time i meet him i will ask him what models are compatable

Yes sure, but you paid more for a trouble free kit.

Our kits only costs 100£ and sometimes even cheaper.

Bad quality? No, i have them since one year and i have a 24 months warranty.
 
Just fitted them to mine - I went for the HIDS4U BiXenon Kit - ok, so it was £150, but it went straight in without any issues and doesn't give me any bulb failure warnings - so I'm happy!
 
Hi guys, since i was a bit interested in the HID lights concept, I did inquire about it today at a local car motorshop down our lane, the lad who owns the shop was very helpful, we did have quiet a bit of a chit chat for almost half an hour and he told me all the things I need to know about the light. Now apparently what he told me was, according to the Uk law light colors with 8000K, 9000, 10000 etc are all illegal and a direct MOT faliure with a hefty fine on the road if caught by coppers, the reason because they are either blue or purple, more likely the boy racer colors and is harmful to the traffic and doesnt produce the right beam pattern as required for an MOT. He told me that you can get cheaper kits off fleabay and the bulb quality is bad. the bulbs are made from recycled glass and they produce glare and the beam pattern is scattered all around. Damn I never knew anything about lights before.

What more, well the problem to the bulb faliure warning on the dash cluster is because models before 2002 were never programmed to take an HID bulb, an Hid bulb is 35 watts and a normal halogen is 55w, now when we install an hid bulb the ecu thinks that the bulb is blown because its taking less than 55ws and thus it gives us a warning, now some people talk about resistors, what these resistors do is that they take more current and equalise it to 55w and the rangies think that the bulb is 55w and thus no error.. well theres a catch guys, if say the hid bulb blows out, the resistor will chip in more current and it wont show us an error warning, and he said the resistor is also harmful for the car electrics.

Best thing when buying a kit is to remember, firstly, is the kit market with E4 certification, is it CE certified, is it legal, buy colors only like 5000K or 6000k, as for the maximum color you can take from an hid bulb is at 6000K and I checked the light, damn they are bright and lovely, just like an original Range rover sport light system. Plus bright side, they are perfectly legal. Get a kit which comes in bi-xenon, meaning a single bulb for high and low and it also has error harness which are specially designed to eradicate the warning light. The lad was very helpful, showed me the whole kit, tested the light and showed me all the stuff that comes with a bi-xenon. They also have a website on the business card --> www.xtremebargainsuk.com. Though their kits are expensive than others on ebay but I guess its all about the quality. check it out and if theres a group buy, maybe we all can get some discount from them. The shop is located near heathrow, maybe 3-4 of us can drop by and get from them or buy from their site and get it all delivered to us.

Im highly satisfied by the guys opinion on the product so lets see what you lot have to say. any opinion on the product....
 
Hmm then I guess the guy was right. I love salesmen like those who try to buy your confidence in the product not just one of those who are after a sale and later on leave you to cry. I shall look for a few more good remarks about Hids and maybe would buy one too, they are really bright, RAV hows HID going on with you, did you notice any difference in the quality of light at night.
