Copper grease on the studs, without doubt. Been using it for decades, always works. Also use it where the wheels contact the hubs. And a smear on the wheel inner central hole if it contacts the hub sticky out bit.

Thanks, im going to try and avoid mods by finding a pair of lights suitable at a resonable price. I have a guy with access to lights second hand but there is many options and trying to work out which ones are correct.
