How about wear in the throttle linkages.. ours would tickover lovely when stationary, take it for a drive and it would be erratic again, all down to worn linkages.
This is happening on mine I suspect its part number 9047 but there's so much Gibbins in the way its hard to see where its coming from. So I just fill 3/4 of a tank and live with it for now
So today took.it for a ride with the set up u suggested to check for breather issues. To be fair seemed to drive a bit smoother or could been in my head.
Drove alright again for a while stopping at parts store then back on road again then...
I have 2 1999 P38 diesel Range Rovers at the moment both on SORN I am confident that both would pass a MOT and I have had them running. I used them for travelling oversea when I was in the UK as I live in Australia but now I am getting to old to...
It's Left Hand Drive so will be worth a lot more money in continental Europe. I had a Romanian neighbour who used to buy them in the UK and sell on in Romania for a profit. I think that they used parts from crashed (or whatever) LHD ones to...

Just decide on the specification you want (Station Wagon, Hard Top, Truck Cab) and then whether you want aircon/electric windows etc,
Fix a budget, and leave aside around £2,000 for initial jobs and other things you'll decide you want to do to...
If you have live data on the diag,
Look at how the egr is behaving..
If the percentage figures of the egr valve glitch and or don't match the intended percentages it could be sticking just enough not to flag a fault.
Also read the maf figures...
If you can get the tank down to half, siphon and stick dip while you have sender out and then trial fit sender bending the arm to get gauge to read about right. Probably the best you will get.
Not many ejoke owners on here. As a start, you could try disconnecting the MAF and clearing the codes, see if they return. The ECU should use a default setting (I think), which will prove/disprove the sensor.
Or burn it 🤪
In my 1972 series III whenever the gearbox is in gear and engine at idle the vehicle consistently jerks forwards over and over instead of smoothly providing drive. It does this in both high and low range meaning my foot has to be on the throttle...
