Hi All, hope you all had a great Xmas and looking forward to the new year celebrations.
been a good holiday for me spending most of it my shed working on my series, I rebuilt the gearbox and bolted that back in and have just finished carb rebuild. I ordered a carb rebuilt kit but had no idea how bad the carb was till I started taking it apart the throttle spindle had worn an oval hole which would allow air through messing up fuel mixtures, scratched my head a bit and then got on Youtube and found an awesome video of a guy rebuilding his with exactly the same problem.
first I built a little bracket to hold the carb securely on the drill press.
I then secured to the drill press and drilled out a good thou undersized and pushed in a new plastic bush impregnated with Teflon both ends using Loctite, watch how deep you drill the other end there is a brass plug
I then drill out the bush just the right size for the spindle, I should have reamed it but didn't have any and found them to be costly for just one job.
And here it is all back together and back on the car, just to add I sanded all the faces to get them nice flat before re-assembly.
And here is the link to the You tube video it's worth watching. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkDwAkRBjaA
