Yes it should fix that problem but while you have it in bits make sure all surfaces are flush and fit well where gaskets are needed as per this Zenith 36IV Carburettor & this Land Rover FAQ - Repair & Maintenance - Series - Engine - Zenith Fix hope that helps.

Also Land Rover Zenith 3888 Carburettor Repair Kit | eBay UK or even better Overhaul Kit (605092) To Buy Online At Brookwells Land Rover Parts .
I rebuilt the carb on my last petrol with one of the kits from Brookwells it didn't take too long and was quite easy as-well, o and get yourself a tin of carb cleaner as you will defiantly need it when you open up the carb as I found petrol isn't really that clean.

The rubber O ring that fits around the venturi is probably perished. Petrol will leak around it, and dribble out around the throttle assembly, and onto the hot exhaust manifold!! I recently cured this, make sure the new ring is put on right though, I had mine back on, and it was worse, as I hadn't fitted it properly, being a ring, it can twist as you put it on... also as said in above reply, make sure all jointing surfaces are flat. it's worth checking float height while you are at it too. Good luck.

Ok` all sounds good I will order a kit & do some lapping 30 years ago since i did that, as they say what go`s arround comes arround. thanks for all your comments.:)

Hi when you talk about the o ring on the venturi do you mean the one on the emulsion block to body ? quite a larg o ring say inch + in size. my leake is arround the throttle spindle had a word with debbie at brookwells & she looked in the kite no signe of a o ring to fit that spindle shaft. :)

with a new weber 34 ICH do I need to change the manifold? what price are they? & air filter what do you do with it, put a K&N on? :scratching_chin:

Won't need different manifold, will need different fuel pipe (slightly larger) or an adapter. Mouth of carb is slightly smaller than the Zenith, so an adapter needed for that, or bodge a rubber adapter with hose clip.. Mine came from a series 2a so, it more or less fits, with an adapter for the fuel pipe (the inlet is bigger than the zenith). I saw them new for £75! google it? as for filter it's up to you, you can make the original one fit though. good luck.
