Your thoughts on owning an old Landy in the future?

Just posting a general question to see what your thoughts are on being a Land Rover enthusiasts in the future? Germany, Norway, Sweden and other countries are talking about restrictions, diesel free zones etc. Do you think we'll be able to drive our beloved Land Rovers in 10 or 20 years from now?

With 70% of the 2m plus made still 'out there' somewhere it's not like they're scarce in numbers. The backlash if the UK ever 'banned' them would be enormous. The LR following in the UK is huge.

Yes, but paying thru the nose for the privilege , so probably not something for the normal people just those with deep pockets or a deep need to own and drive a "classic" LR product.

I'd think there will always be provision for 'classics' to be used. Maybe limited mileages or other such limitations, such that probably not for daily use, but still able to be viable for green laning, if that's not been completely stamped on!

Let's face it, we can still ride 2 stroke 'smokers' with almost impunity, providing they pass the current legislation.

Mine's petrol and along with other petrol engined classic cars I expect to be driving it for many years and hand it down to my sons.

In the summer we had a blowout in Germany on the autobahn at 3 am no joke with all the lorries thundering past you needed a gas mask and this is 24 7 so I think a few Landis would not make much differents to air pollution

Get rid of diesels in cars. The devil's fuel!

Diesel can run on veg oil so putting the price of fuel up not really a option. But petrol is a bit harder to make at home.
I suspect that the real threat to landies and other old cars would be the shift away from Dino juice and the scarcity of fuel.

S1 I do agree that there would be some backlash but there will be a restriction of some kind. @neilly the perverted little retard is just being his usual cocky self - behind the keyboard that it!
This is a real valid point, what will happen? They surly won't stop a ute being used for its natural job, but the rest of us may be in for a shock. I love classic cars and there is an undertone that mile ages will end up being capped and a 'tax' may apply! Let's hope we actually get a say

I cannot see people placing votes because of a classic car issue...........

There are normally more important items to take into consideration.

Sometimes though you need to send a warning.

Trucks move goods, food, machinery etc so comparing trucks to land rovers is a bit of a jump, I dont think banning diesel vehicles will be a chouce, it will be necessary.
