I have been getting 3 dings from the dash, usually indicating a fault but no fault lights I investigated the dash binnacle and found insulation tape in the lamp sockets for tc and abs.

Getting a little annoyed and concerned I decided to plug it in to my hawkeye.
I had got historical fault for the shuttle valve switch when I bought it but this was now showing as current and also electrical supervision.

So I tried to reset the fault, it wouldn't clear.

A little research showed I should have 3k ohms at pins 9and 6 on the multi plug to the abs unit, I didn't get any reading at all. More research indicated I needed to mod the wiring to the shuttle valve switches as is the common fault. Stripped the unit out, took it in the kitchen and too off the cover for the switches on the bottom.

Tested them and it gave a 3k ohms, 2k ohms and 1k ohms as I operated the switches as is the test method. Tested continuity over the contacts on the abs unit, all checked out. Cleaned the contacts, bent the plug contacts slightly to get a better connection, re assembled and re tested for resistance and got 3k as I should over pins 9 and 6.

Put it all back on the car, cleared faults, bled the system and all is well, no amigos on the dash and tc/abs functioning as it should.

A nice little fix. The hawkeye also has a function to test the switches which the car failed before my work and then passed after the work. So before you hack the switch wires, test the resistance and connections and continuity of the circuits.

Cheers
