Hi all,

Really getting annoyed now - it is ****ing me right off

Driving though town at 25mph, about 2 miles into journey and engine light comes on and stays on - will not extinguish. Seems to drive ok with no problems.

Any ideas?

I have put a new battery and alternator on it as the alternator was discharging the battery. It has also had a new water pump after the temperature climbing fiasco.

I also had a leak from the auto gearbox cooler sensor which I seem to have fixed with some ptfe tape.

I haven't unplugged or hit anything with hammers so nothing i've done lol.

I HATE THIS THING!! :amen:

Any ideas? I am pulling my hair out here.

Will drive up to about 40mph and then it just doesn't do anything else. Check engine light is on constantly.

Annoying me and causing general upset as it is being used for work at the moment :(

Are you saying it wont go above 40mph?

It will if you're going downhill or if you have about 10 miles to pick speed up.

It is basically completely gutless after 40mph. It is in the equivilent of my Transits "limp home" mode.

When starting, you put the key in, turn the key to position 2, check engine light comes on as it should then it should go out after a few seconds which it does, then there is a click from a relay under the steering wheel and the check engine light comes on (before engine started). When you turn over, check engine light is constantly on from then onwards.

It is a 1998 auto edc so has quite a bit of electrics on.

I've got a similar problem on my '96 300 ES. I put key to pos.2 and get SRS and engine check lights on - with no other dash lights at all! It then starts and runs fine but I don't have speedo, rev.counter, temp. gauge or any other warning lights. Have checked all fuses but need to be able to identify all relays and work through those. Will take a while but will reply when I get any joy.
P.s.
Put a post on here weeks ago but no feedback yet.

I changed the injector as per my other thread for a different one and no more check engine light!!!! YEY! It is however blowing like a steam train past the seal as I didn't have any new copper washers so have to re-use an old one  But it has full power restored so I have a little happier.

Now just got the burnt out brand new alternator to exchange, overheating issue to fix and also the crabbing problem when driving :(
