NZ is bigger than England. Those 'Northern hemisphere' maps distort the
latitude/longitude map divisions so the Northern hemisphere looks bigger
for details.

If you bear in mind that NZ has a similar land area to
England/Scotland/Wales you get some idea of the scale and distances when
you look at a map.

Except, by being our antipodes almost exactly, the scale on the map is
virtually identical.

UK is 244,000 km2
NZ is 269,000 km2

About 10% bigger. More room for sheep or Hobbits.

We've got plenty of pond life over here, it infests the streets of our
cities! What we need is a nice flood, although apparently that's been
tried before and it didn't work.
