Its a quick one though...

ive been told 265 is the widest tyre you can put on 7' rims, but i reckon this is bulls**t as ive seen 285/75r16 on 7" disco 1 rims.. so heres the question how big a tyre will actually fit, has anyone got any bigger a tyre on??

I have a set of 285/75/16 muds on 7" rims.

Havent actually used them much because i have a set of 8" wides in the same style and i have them on. Your biggest obstacle is getting a garage to fit them!

All the mainstream garages etc wouldnt fit them as they say there too wide. i had to find a little back street garage to fit them in the end. And then trying to break the bead on the coopers trying to fit them was a problem too!

You are more likely to throw a bead obviously aswell when out playing.

They will fit but they will wear the center of the tyre quicker than the edges, it will also put increased stress on the tyre wall due to the extra flexing involved in the weight transfer and the fact that the weight is not on the correct cross section of the tyre.

For the cost of 8" rims (£100 a set new) I wouldn't bother with the 7's, you will save the money in tyre wear...
