I and tex90 went and enjoyed the day (with one reservation). We went `cos were new and enthusiastic about the sport and look forward to any opportunity to have a pay and play, especially with a good cause attached.
Because we are new, we haven`t been exposed to the politics that were felt and discussed by various members who have had bad experiences with VC, (ironic initials for someone central to the argument of a Help for Heroes charity day), and it all seemed well organised, supportive and good humoured. I`m always prepared to give something/someone a go, until personally crossed.
The quarry was pretty big with lots of diverse conditions although water was suggested as `out of bounds` for the day, apparently being too deep. That didn`t stop some from trying!! Amazing to see standard and new vehicles put through pretty tough runs and coming out unscathed.
My one reservation was I only lasted 1 1/2 hrs as going up or coming down a pretty steep hill my immobiliser chip which was in the ashtray for safe keeping (ha ha), flew out and was lost.
Not noticing this I parked up for a sarny, turned the engine off and that was that. Tow to the public road, call the AA, bypass the fuel pump and starter motor and a bodge to get me driving home. Top marks to AA man.
Good while it lasted and a good day for us.
