I might get my mate to knock me a tigged one up. I havent a tig welder but he just got a shiney shiney new one and is keen to try it out.

Prior to that, i need to knock up a filtering station for my new oil supplier...

the oil i get to make bio with is very clean and i can chuck it straight in my reactor..
I was going to use the reactor to filter the oil i just started to get for running WVO in the 110 so poured it in last night without filtering it.. (or even checking it!) and bits of donner kebab have blocked my pump... Its properly mingin.

Got to strip it down tonight...

yup.

First time i have used this oil supplier. To be fair the oil itself it very good. I left it out in the cold and it didnt freeze or go thick or anything! So will be spot on for WVO use. :)

If i have spare i will mix it with my biodiesel oil to try to reduce the cloud point of the oil. Its 5p a ltr more expensive, but then its also 70 miles closer to home... so worth it!

Been looking more and more at the WVO setup. Just concerned about taking too much heat out of the cooling system now. Especially on shorter journeys.

I do enough miles to warrant running on WVO. especially when it costs so little.

I am going to run the little mercedes we have bought on bio - 45p a ltr - so equivalent of 150 mpg

110, shogun sport and l200 on WVO. The 110 is going to be the experimental vehicle as its so simple to work on.

The 110 is also the vehicle i will be using for my catering business. And all the products i develop for the 110 i am starting to put together for my landy business.

Been speaking to a guy on the disco3 forum who's put a 100l tank under the load bay (it's a commercial) - apparently the tank cost him ~£70 - I'll see if i can find out where he got it from - i think he said it was metal. Shape maynot work for you, but, it may be a fab. shop.

I think D4x4 or someone does a series of chassis mounting tanks too which don't decrease ground clearance or require any welding, but, i think they were £100's

So is the catering business and land rover business going to be the full time life style now? I'm struggling to work out how you manage to do soooo much with your time!!! ;)

if you could ask him that would be cool. cheers matey. yeah i have seen the ready made setups. Too damn expensive. The project is to save money! haha

No its not going to be a full time thing. The nuclear and defence industry pays too well for me to leave.

Me and the mrs are going to be running the catering trailer thing and get it off the ground and then employ someone to run it for us. We will just manage it.

Landrover business is something that i hope maybe might take me full time... but i cannot see it as being viable to replace a full time career. Finally got all my stuff from my old workshop last weekend. Now setting up the new workshop. Weathers too crap outside to be working on the 110 though. :(

I've sent him a message and will let you know.

you'll probably just end up working two jobs, Landy business will be at a size which isn't enough to support you 100% but is big enough to be doing ok and needing lots of time! I'm getting that way with my business against full time career, as long as you enjoy the landy buisness you'll be fine though :D

You need to man up about the weather though ;) Least it's generally dry, that's all you need for working on landy's!

I can definetely see that happening! i really want to open my own engineering machine and fabrication shop. But that has to wait. Need some proper capital to do that. Also looking at buying a couple more properties next year with my father in law to be. He wants to do all the work on them and I will supply the capital. To either rent them out or buy and sell. Plenty of projects on the go at all times. Thats why i go to bed at 1am and get up at 5am. Which doesnt really help when having M.E I assure you hahaha.

used to commute on motorbike through all weathers... now i am getting old and turned into a big girl! :p Thinking about it.... i bought a big fook off gazebo last year to enable me to work on cars when the weather was bad. I should get it out really. I want to move the landy this weekend into a better position to where the mg is, but the brakes are well and truly seized on the mg and its going to be a proper arse to move.

I really don;t see why you would go to all this trouble and adding so much weight when you can just mix veg oil and Bio anyway??

its not just for the landy mate. Im using the landy as an experiemental vehicle (as its got loads of empty spaces etc and easy to work on) Once the landy is done, ill be doing the same to our shogun sport & the little merc a class and my l200.

Also, not all the oil i get has a low cloud point. It is still a solid at 15 degrees! Ive played around with mixing it with petrol etc and although it "sort of" works i was having issues with crystals in the fuel filter. So a heated system is the only way to go to make sure i can use 100% of the oil i get.

its not animal fat.. its palm oil

Makes excellent biodiesel. But heated up it will run straight just fine.

if only it were that easy cleaning up all the ****e off the garage floor.. its a right messy job. when you spill it. Bleurgh

I'm really lucky I've never spilt any yet :)

spilt a load of used engine oil just threw some absorbent granules down

i use cheap rubbish cat litter for that, the fullers earth pulls out the oil no problem. Only issue is with this palm oil, it hits the cold hard flow and then goes solid... dog likes to lick it though :/
