Qatar , did your new steering column on your l322 sort out your suspension levelling quirk ?

Paul I have fitted the second hand column now the dealer will not programme the SAS as it was not fitted by them and they will also not programme used parts. So I am looking into alternatives as to how this can be done, there are no other dealers or indies here and doubt anyone has a genuine T4 or similar, Allcomms wont do it neither will any other diagnostics I have access to, so a bit fooked at the moment??

Faultmate:)

Has the Faultmate the capability to programme new parts/ECU's to a vehicle system as does the dealers diagnostics? I seem to remember Saint fitting a ABS module and having to take to a indie for programming as I thought he had a Faultmate, but I maybe wrong??

Saint has AllComms. As far as I'm aware, the Faultmate can do everything dealer diagnostics can do and in the case of the P38 more.:)

I don't mind buying one I just need to be 100% sure it will do the programming, if it can't will be a waste of money, will check with BBS, cheers.

Cheers , I didn't realise the steering angle sensor had to be programmed , what about the steering column ecu ? Is that plug and play? I mean can you actually start and drive the thing at least ?

Paul, from what I can find out the column ECU does not need programming it is plug and play, however the SAS certainly does need programming to the car. Yep I can still use the vehicle but have all the warning lights and boings going on, suspension is up and stays up but can't change settings as it shows a soft fault, am now looking into getting a Faultmate but first need to verify it can programme and not just read/clear faults.

Just email BBS with your questions, I'm pretty sure it can do all you need but wise to check first as it's not cheap:)

I know it's a pain but can't you fit your old sas to your new steering column? As it seems to have been the ecu that was your prob?

I could but there was no definitive diagnostic answer as the whether the SAS or the column ECU was going to be the issue and cure it, so a complete used column was fitted as it is not the easiest of jobs and didn't want to do it twice especially in 40/50dgs heat, just waiting on BBS to get back on whether a Faultmate can reprogram the new bits?

Yer, I went to Doha once , prob the hottest temps I've experienced . Too late now but you could have tested the new ecu just by unplugging the mufti plug on the old one still insitue and plugging straight Into your new column. That way you would have known which was at fault. No good to you now but might help someone reading this thread in the future

Very valid point, unfortunately I didn't personally fit the column, it was fitted by my lads while I was on leave in the UK, I knew the telescopic was not working which we put down to the white plastic clamp being broken, but when they took the trims off the motor had been removed and they decided to fit the whole thing as the dealer advised this could also be a part if the problem. I bought this car as a quick flip and it has turned into a bit of a nightmare as a mates wife fell in love with it and I can't flog it to him with all these problems!

Ah I see. Fingers crossed you can program it and get it off your hands. I don't suppose you've still got the old column? I'm looking for one to see if I can repair the ecu. I'd rather practice on a spare than tackle mine insitue

I will hopefully have the ECU which you are welcome to, not quite sure of the logistics on getting it to you but once I have it sorted we can work something out?

Thanks for that, obviously I'm more than happy to pay the postage, I can send you it via PayPal if you have an account? Just let me know, cheers
