Would this fail an MOT?

Looking for some advice. The scuttle panel on my '98 Discovery where the bonnet hinges attach are rotten. Could I remove the hinges and secure the bonnet with those rubber bonnet catches at hinged end ie, bonnet attached to wings and bonnet pins at lift up section?
Hope this makes sense..

No idea re your question but if the panel is rotted away do you not get water ingress into the cabin?

Not an answer to your question , But.

There was someone recently had the same thing , I think it was a D2, They patched the scuttle where the rust was and job done.

I don't see why not as long as, in the opinion of the tester, the bonnet was secure. Hinges are after all only a means of access.
