Hi i have a 1983 series 3 2.25 petrol, i had some problems with overheating which i have now cured, this involved flushing the block, replacing the radiator and cap and then fitting a new thermosat as there was not one fitted.
My question is where should the gauge sit once it has warmed up, currently its half way between the middle mark and the red zone, its reaches this point and sits there never going higher. Is this ok or should it ideally be more towards the middle mark.

i wouldn't be too bothered where it sits so long as its steady and not way in the red bit? if its not boiling up or running on when switched orf, be happy

Hi Slob , no its doesn't go into the red and doesn't boil over and i haven't noticed it over running it just gets to the 3 quarter area and seems to stay there not going any higher, so if your sure i will just relax and enjoy myself. Many thanks for the reply, im sure theres plenty more questions coming the forums way so no doubt we will talk again.:) :) :)

hey, i used to have an old series 1 that used to go right up balancing between neutral and red, it went on and on and was absolutly fine im sure yours is nothing to worry about ,:)
