HI GUYS ,
Just so as to let people understand how impressed I am with my car I treated her to a new set of side steps today & have spent most of the day & night fitting them. One of the reasons was because I think they give her a more manly look but the main reason was that the drivers seat bolster has worn through because the last owner was obviously sliding in & out of the seat causing it to wear thin before it split. That side of the seat bolster has been flattened & the sponge has been torn away so I think I might have to buy a new/second hand seat unless someone on the forum has a how to repair upholstery.
Also as its been pouring with rain up here I couldn,t get too for under the car to check out the condition of the underseal so maybe someone could let
me know whether I should do it again before the real bad weather sets in.

Honestly...

I just took my side steps off. They're ****, they do nothing and have the potential to hold muck on the bottom of yer car... I would have gladly given you mine

The seat is worn because Freelander seats are quite high and a taller person has to scrape their bonce getting in the car while sliding their arse over the seat.

Now about these pickchewers... go on show us yer bald rubber...

Too busy working on her for fotos bro but soon as I get done I,ll give her a good clay bar & get the wax on her ready for winter, as I said
I need to see about the upholstery & if I can,t mend it maybe you could let me know where to source a matching drivers seat other
than the scrap yard. Actually I think my F1 (I like the sound of that) looks pretty good just now so maybe I,ll take some snaps tomorrow
& try posting em on here so where do I see fotos of you guys F1,s??

didn,t want to mention it but I cracked my nut on the top of the door trim when I tried them out..So one upgrade down the swanee but where are you on upholstery repair which will need a bit of heavy duty repair work cos as you say my big arse will be sliding off & on it.

Owning Landies is all about bolting bits on that don't necessarily make any sense!

So if you want a ladder that no one is going to climb, or MT tyres that will only ever see tarmac, or indeed side steps who's only realistic function is to collect rust enabling mud on your chassis - that is all absolutely fine.

Problem with the seat is normal. You could take a seat from a breakers - but it'll probably be just as pants. You can swap the seat cushion & cover from the passenger side, but then you have a hole in the passenger seat. So, the best solution is to get the passenger seat cushion/cover from a breakers and replace your driver's one with it. They are all held on with clips, and the drivers and passengers are slightly different, but it works a treat

LOVE your way of thinking man. I get your drift on side steps causing rust elsewhere although the steps are alloy they don,t help matters in months to come.

Masking tape will help if you get any warning lights, you can just stick a bit of tape over them... problem solved.

Could be right there bro...Still I,ve always got the masking tape cure. Whats good about the rain is it gives us pure fresh drinking water with no scum floating on it but it also keeps the midges & other foreign bodies from
coming this side of the border.
