Hi

Does anybody know if this would fit a 1992 defender 90 please?

Have been looking at so many and this one just popped up locally!

Thankyou 😄

It looks like they've already removed the bit from the back door
I'm guessing they all put a lot if weight/strain, is there certain ones which would be best?

Normal ones have three point of contact, the one in your pic only has two, door one does not so much take any load but stops it shaking about to much, bit like your feet carry you up the stairs but every now and then being able to hold onto the handrail makes you feel secure.

As for which is best, I would say whatever you can afford.

I bought a 2nd hand but nearly new britpart one years ago, it is still on there in one bit.

As I said before, the one you are looking at is designed for a pickup with a drop down tailgate. It will kind of do what you’re looking for, but it’s better to have the correct one with three points of contact. They are more expensive though !!
If you did chose to go with this one, fabricate a bracer to fit from the inside of the quarter panel to the side panel. It isn’t ideal and would be a nuisance in the corner, but it’s better than the weight of the wheel tearing your tub apart.

This is the best design only fixed to the rear crossmember and has a ball joint and rubber connector between the door and carrier so no weight on the door. When fitted correctly it also takes away the rear door rattle.
Not cheap though, around £750.

Thankyou all for your help / advice

Will give this a miss, had no idea you could get ones without a 3rd point of attachment! Its a shame as only £80 on marketplace
