Iv had my '96 300Tdi for a couple of weeks now, got used to the change from a mini car upto this big thing.

Up until now i never really noticed the behaviour, i just thought it was a bumpy road or how these cars were.

From the front left side it feel like the wheel has a buckle, or like its egg shaped or something. Iv looked at the wheel and tyre i suspect and i cant see anything wrong with it.

Yesderday i removed my plastic bumper and chopped the bottom halfs off my bumper corner trim. The car appears to have been in a minor front end collision, the bumper is bent about 5degrees and a bit of a kink in it.

Is there anything that could have happened in a minor front end collision that would knock the wheel/suspension/prop shaft/cv joint or whatever that would lead to these symptoms?

It doesnt wander or get worse when going over bumps. As far as discovery's go the steering is pretty sharp. Its jus that i get a motion like my wheel is egg shaped. Not majorly, but still.

I shall have a gander at ball joint shims and see if anything looks amiss

Sounds to me like how mine felt when I bent a damper rod! Might be worth checking .. jack axle up at suspect side and see if you have full suspension movement and that it isn't sticky' ... Or take the wheel, spring and damper off and check the damper for movement ... you could see mine was bent without taking the wheel off .. ;)
