So I was going through my pre winter crawl about under the landy (1994 ex mod 110) when I noticed that my front propshaft had a bit of give in it. It wasn't at either of the joints at either axle or transfer box ends but at the point when it goes from thick metal to a thinner rod (about 2/3 of the way up) if that makes any sense to people.

Basically i could push it up and down about half a cm and it looked like some sort of collar had come loose where the 2 sections join.

Now I can't be certain but could this be contributing to a vibration I get at around 50mph? and is it something I should worry about?

Cheers

Ah ok that makes sense now. It was absolutely caked in grease and crud so Ill have another crawl under there tomorrow and clean it up to see whats what

The collar may be the rubber grease seal which has just slid of the main body of the shaft, if it is and you have 1/2 cm up/down play then I think your shaft has had it. if it can move that far under hand pressure then it is loose enough to cause vibration.

Second Kwakerman on that,it's time for a new shaft. Splines on some shafts have a plastic type coating on them and when it goes you get a lot of movement.
