Hi, a minor wiring problem, I have no power to the live side of the interior light fuse, is there an common fault or is it going to be a loom trace? cheers for your help. Defender 90 200 Tdi 1992

The interior light should run off a permanent live. That's a brown wire.

Fuse 2 on mine.

If you do have to trace it back, hopefully it won't be a difficult job as it's not a lot of wire to trace.

Mine are purple to, Mine got trapped where the sunvisor is and wore through, they also wear through where they go up the pillars

Take the little panel off that the switch is on and look behind ... the cable on mine was very tight and the connector had come off the back of the switch. You've probably checked anyway but if not it's worth a look. :)

Do you really mean the fuse? or the light itself?

It should be a brown wire from battery to fuse, purple from fuse to light, and purple/white to the door switches.

Thanks Andy Land, first place I checked, then the door buttons then the fuse, where I found no power to the live side, its one of those tiny problems that does your head in after a bit.

I really mean the fuse dungus, defo purple wire, well two on the live side, if it wasn't for it being two purple wires I would just give it a new live but am unsure why there is two wires and what it will effect by fitting new live, I need to consult with Mr Haynes me thinks.

Andy MCD, sounds like a good place to check when I change from a truck cab to a county when the linings are all off, however think these wires would be the other side of the fuse

Should be 3 wires to the interior light

Black - earth

One purple wire is a permanent live - feed from door switches

One purple wire (sorry, can't remember the trace colour) is ignition switched - to allow you to turn the interior llight on using the built in switch

Hi James, there is one wire coming out of the fusebox which is again purple.

Thanks Station, there is no power at the switch so I'm guessing that the ignition live is the one at fault which is purple with a blue trace.
