Hello everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I decided to install cruise control on my '99 Disco 2.

Didn't work after I installed it, so I went to a friend with a diagnostic tool to check a few things.
Brake light switch, clutch switch and CC main switch on the dashboard are all ok and working as they should.

To my understanding, it could only be an electric issue I'm dealing with. So today I look the airbag out to take another look at the wiring inside the steering wheel:

I have no idea who did this and I also do not understand the way the wiring got altered. The two purple ones from the top are now connected to white from the bottom. However the top white and the two purple bottom ones are just cut off.

I presume this is the cause for the malfunction of my CC. Does anyone have a circuit diagram to figure out what exactly is going here? I'm clueless and I don't want to mess up the electrics any further as anything else apart from the CC is working just fine.

Many thanks for your help!

Looks like something has been short circuited.
Wonder what? Strikes me it can only be the controls for the stereo, the airbag, or the horn!

The two purple-black wires (one for each horn button) connect with a third purple-black wire from the stereo control (which isn't fitted) further down the loom and end up on a single pin for the next connector. The white one also leads to the stereo control.

So someone wired the horn buttons into the stereo control. Doesn't explain to me why the horn works normally. Someone made a big mess here - and it seems like my CC problem lies somewhere else.
