It's not the same :(

If you know what you're doing, you could probably make it fit.

But, it doesn't contain a suitable switch for a Discovery II.

You can buy the Discovery II switch separately -

The DII spotlight switches are -

STC50098 - Ash Grey, LH side of the Binnacle - £38

VVN500060 - Black, LH side of the Binnacle - £44

.

VVN500070 - Black, RH side of the Binnacle - £44

.

But, it's a non-latching momentary earth-switching switch, which is unsuitable for use with anything other than the 'Control Unit' (VUB501690) that comes with the kit.

It can be modified, by using a Defender Puma Heated Seat Switch body, with the front from the DII Switch.

There's a kit on eBay (in Germany) ATM - Kabelsatz Kabelbaum Zusatzscheinwerfer Landrover Disco | eBay

ics landrover parts say they have it and costs 125 for full kit find it hard to believe considering cannot get from LR there selfs.

Other option is how easy would it be to buy an aftermarket kit and any recomendations at all

The kit (STC50039) has been unavailable from Land Rover for some time now. When it was available, it retailed for around £150 inc. VAT.

It would cost you nearly that much to buy to the Control Unit and Switch separately.

There are a few places around that (claim to) still have the kit in stock.

A few people on the D2BC have used this kit on eBay - land rover discovery spot light wiring loom | eBay

But, this kit doesn't have a separate switch. So that, your driving lights always come on with main beam.

The kit can easily be modified to work with a hybrid DII/Puma switch, as detailed above.

Ok its in the states but it not a bad price.

He's been trying to flog that kit for months.

If you read his description, most of it is missing :(

Only the Yellow highlighted bits are included, all the stuff in Red isn't there -

A bit steep at $55

been looking about and was thinking of changing my mind either going for terrafirma 8" 55w spots as they come complete with wiring for good price or i see they have 8" terrafirma HID ones bit more expensive but never had any dealings with HID kits would they be worth the hassle and how difficult would they be to fit to my pre facelift disco2

Hi PaulMc what do you meen by momentary earth-switching switch, mine sometime works and sometime doesn't, is there any way of conecting any of the wires (4 i think from memory) to make the spot lights come on with the high beam every time?

Cheers Paul

By 'Momentary', I mean that the switch doesn't 'latch' ON

You press it, and it makes a momentary closed circuit (to earth) and then pops back to open circuit.

The Control Unit, which is part of the Driving Lights Wiring Kit, detects this momentary earth connection and, only if Main Beam is also on, will switch on the driving lights until, either the main beams or ignition are turned off.

Your problem with intermittent operation is almost certainly a problem with the control unit, they're not very reliable :(

Have a look at this - www.discovery2.co.uk** Driving / Spot Lamps

With the existing setup, you can't make the driving lights come on with main beam everytime.

You can, if you replace the control unit with a relay.

If you're doing this, you might as well also make a £5 modification to the switch, so that you can still switch the driving lamps on/off while on main beam.

But, as this modification also makes the switch latching, you can leave the driving lights 'pre-selected' to come on with main beam every time you switch to them, inluding 'flashing'.

See here for details of the relay/switch modification - http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/safari-5000-driving-lamps-wiring-diagram-203300.html
