Can anyone provide advice/diagrams on the above? I've got a trailer connection on my 90 but the wires been cut for some reason and I'm quite keen to connect it back up so it will actually be of some use

just splice in properly, and don't use scotchlocks... earth at a convenient place.

This is for a standard 7 pin socket. Terminal 1 yellow, L/h indicator.2 blue rear fog light.3 white common return (earth) 4 green R/H indicator. 5 brown R/h side tail.6 red stop lamp.7 black L/h side tail. I am assuming you don't have the continental 13 pin socket. If you do let me know.

Why dont peeps look in the feckin FAQ section???
thats what its for?

Noobs complain cos they get told to :search: and then peeps dont bother to use the data that we have supplied .

Pin 12 is normally used for trailer sensing. I think most caravans have pin 12 earthed so that the car knows when to disable reversing sensors, inhibiting the car fog lights and changing engine or gearbox mapping for towing heavy weights. Obviously a bit advances for a Landy but if you put power down on pin 12 then you may end up blowing fuses if you plug a caravan in. If you want switched 12v power (on with engine running) use pin 10 supply if you use pin 9 you risk draining your battery when parked up.

Its a 13 pin connector that you push into the socket and rotate 90 degrees to lock in place. The overall quality seems to be a lot higher than the old 7 pin 12N & 12S types and in the last 6 years I haven't experienced any of the contact corrosion / loose pin issues you get with the old style ones.
