hi guys, have searched the forum and other tinterweb sites for an answer to this,
Its ex military, has an arial that i can connect to, but not sure where to wire it to make it live?
any help appreciated,

many thanks

J

I have 2 12v batteries and also a multimeter, not entirely sure how to use the multimeter properly but kind of have an idea!

Thanks for the replies guys

I would add a second fuse box for extra kit that is 12v from one of the batteries. Wire the permanent live for the radio straight to the fuse box and wire the one that should only come on with the engine through the ignition.

erm if its a 24v landrover it will have a 24v ignition so wiring it into that would be a big no no, you could get away with using a relay off of the ignition though, wire the relay in like:

pin 30 goes to your 12v source
pin 85 goes to an earth point
pin 86 goes to your ign live
pin 87 goes to your radio ign live

you will need a 24v relay though if you get a fused one it will save wiring in a separate fuse

thanks g man, that would have been a big mistake, how do i go about fitting a relay to the ignition? This is my 1st landy so still getting used to how to do things,

Cheers

find the wire thats live only when the ignition is on (not sure what colour it is but a quick test with a multimeter will let you know) then find that same wire where it enters the fusebox, take the wire off, then using a piggyback type crimp connector attach your new wire to the fuse box and re attach your original wire, now run your new wire to where you want to put the relay (somewhere out of the way so you can't see it would be best)
