Evening gents, hopefully someone can help. My 1989 90 failed it's MOT. i have fixed all of the mechanical issues with the help of Defenderdog1. however, one of the fails was the indicator operating the nearside rear indicator affecting the brake light the same side. i have metered everything in that area and nothing seems untoward, i have re-earthed everything to the body. No difference. i have re-terminated all connections and it will briefly sort the issue, but then after a short while the issue either reappears or the indicator goes out entirely and the relay goes mad. The warning lights which have never been an issue flash all of 6 times before nothing at all. do the indicators and the hazards share a common relay? also, could somebody point me in the direction of a wiring plan? i am at my wits end.

Thanks, LB

sounds like a bad earth on rear light ,maybe a new light unit .you could prove by earthing buld with a length of wire to suitable point

I had the same fault and it was those nasty bullets crimped onto the factory loom, showed 12v all day long but failed under load

Hazard switch is often the source of indicator problems, however your symptoms still point to an earth issue near the lamps, sometimes it can be an internal problem with the bulb.

Gents, thanks for all the advice. It was those nasty bullet connectors that were the culprit. Having reterminated everything I am now the proud owner of a years MOT. Thanks again chaps. If we ever happen to cross paths the milky bars are on me :)
