Driving along in the wet today I dutifully switched on my lights, only to find that after approx. 10miles my fog light indicator on the dash illuminated,
even though it wasn't swiched on! after about 10 mins my sidelight indicator light went out! I pulled over to find my sidelights were no longer working and my fog lamp was on. A quick look under the bonet revealed a rather melted and chared black connection block (the encapsulated type as originally fitted). The wires were still arcing due to lack of insulation. (Wires affected were colour coded RY, P, R, and RB).
I now want to replace the damaged wiring but I cannot find a supplier who stocks the cables with the correct colour codes. I also need to replace the ecapsulated connection block with somethin else that will be waterproof. Does anyone have any suggestions for cable suppliers and replacing the connectors? I know I could ask the main dealer to supply a new loom but the cost of this is rather more than I wish to pay. Any pointers on making up a new wiring loom would also be greatly appreciated. (Note: I was once an electrical engineer so I am not phased :) by wiring).

Any help / pointers greatly appreciated.

Thanks
