Wires under RH Seat

Hi

I've got a 53 plate Freelander with heated front seats. Under the drivers seat (RH side) there is a connector block coming out of the main loom with a black and red/white wire in it. The wire is very thin so it will carry little current. What is it for. Only found it when retrieving some toys and an old drinks bottle. Have looked at a workshop manual for car and cannot find it in the wiring diagrams.

SRS Air bags

My manual shows the wire colour as brown and brown/red for the pre tensioner which is what Ive got plugged into a socket under the seat running to the seat belt mount. But I cannot find a plug/socket for the black and red/white wires to go into. It's not duplicated on the passenger side.

It might be something to do with srs as the light came on Yesterday before I cleaned out under the seat to check for loose wires.


Any Ideas?

Its nothing to do with the SRS as I have one just hanging about aswell, it will just be for an optional extra that you dont have. As for the SRS light did it come on after you braked hard?

No it came on at start up yesterday PM after being parked for about an hour.

Is it true you can only reset the srs light with a diagnostics tool such as Hawkeye?.

Can you do it with any of the cheaper versions ie ELM327 with appropriate software?

Mine came on a few weeks ago after a fairly dramatic stamp on the brakes, days before the MOT. The garage that did the MOT reset it for me, dont know what diagnostics they used, but they are not LR to probably not testbook. They only charged me £20.

Yellow plug under drivers seat usually works free when moving the seat and is a cause for srs light coming on.......check plug is in all the way

my wife car the srs came on serval times but itcame on and stoped on it was due to contact in the steering wheel not being good after a good clean up of the contacts and a reset it has never happened again

I suspect it's the connector under the seat as Master Tannebri was kicking things under the seat hence the tidy up, plus the wife has been driving it and she needs to pull the seat forwards to reach the peddles!

is it not to do with cd changer or amplifer, think i read somewhere they mount under the seats. but dont quote me

No it's the facelift model with cd in dash board/radio center counsle. I think along with several other replies it's for a unfitted option and I've just taped it up out of the way.

Facelift model also has a 6CD changer option that resides under the drivers seat ... I have one
