Has any one got or have any idea Ware i could get a drawing with enough detail to make a complete wiring harness for a series 3.

As mine has been drastically tinkered with and i am starting to get too many problems,s o I'm gonna make a new one.

Don't even think about it.

The problems of wiring colours and numbers are too horrible.

And doing it all using one colour of wire is asking for trouble.

What would replacement wiring harnesses cost? You might find it's not so bad against buying all the reels of cable, wrappings, terminals, and so on.

FFS I wire panels for a liveing, a poxey series 3 wireing harness will be a walk in th park! I'm just short of the specs

Just split it down into sections....i.e indicators then side lights so on and so forth (only ones that you need uprated wire for is head lights and alternator), make sure u get an eleci tester and u'll av it done in no time. Put in a decent fuse box aswell.

If u've any probs, give us a shout I rewired mine within a day

What about the starter, ignition, glow plugs etc, if I do this i want to do it right (to land rover specifications) so it can be repaired easily in the future. i will also integrate new mods in to the harness like radio, electric fan Etc that wont compromise the rest of the harness, like Mr bodge it and his mates have done in the past.

all right smart alec....like they said buy 1 then y u even askin for advice. Was just tryin 2 be helpful.

i got the wirin digraghums fur a qarter of it - aint I - but as i sed - he cudnt afford me. any road up - its only a series - not wurf it - and maybe he dont like pink;);)

Seems to me he's had offers of help with this job from people who know their business, and if it was me, I would be saying "YES PLEASE", and laying in some crates of beer to pay for the job.

Sorry folks - but if Yellas is anything to go by - a bespoke loom is gonna cost him a mortgage to do the job proper like, not a few beers.

You get wot yu pay fur - yu want it cheap then wire it all in red and black but Lord help ya if yu need to fault find. If you want it all in the correct colours and current capability, conduited for strength and water resistance, with extras wired into it, it WILL cost an arm and a leg.

So are wiring looms still available as a spare part and how much would they be?
Most of the wiring is ok on mine, I think i would stick to just renewing just the problem sections with the correct colour wires. There are some suppliers on the net who can supply the necessary colours.
If it aint done to factory spec it will only be a bodge.

yes - wiring looms are still available. as a start - when I did Yellas rear series loom - a new one (standard) was about £60-70 plus VAT. Mine cost him about £120, but it was special (not pink), with extra wiring incorporated and fully conduited. do a search under "loom" - yu shd find the thread.

I have sourced nearly everything i need to do the job from the five finger discount shop, so all thats really stopping my is a diagram.
