I thought I'd stick this on here as it might help someone. Son's '99 Disco 2 wipers were playing up - the park switch had failed and the spindles were shot. I had access to a Disco 1 for spares but I couldn't find if the parts were interchangeable. Part numbers for the assemblies are different but having stripped them out of the cars, the differences are minor.
1. The plug from the car loom to the motor is different. Wire colours are the same, so cut both plugs off and splice the correct one onto the working motor. Leave yourself enough wire to make a good joint. There's plenty of space.
2. The Disco 1 unit is secured with self-tapping screws while the Disco 2 using M6 fixings. The metal packing that sits in the gasket is different, so swap the gaskets and packings.
3. The large rubber seals on the spindles are full circles on the Disco 1 but the edges are cut away on the Disco 2. Easy to swap over.
That's it.

Have fun,
Jim

PS If you wear a mechanical watch, take it off so it doesn't get magnetised. Guess how I found out.....
