Right, the other day my passenger side wiper fell off so, being ready to get my hands dirty I tried to put it back on again! It wouldn't go on propoerly and then I noticed that the splines on the wiper and the spindle were different.

So, I looked up the wiper part number for my car (1994 Defender 110 300TDi) which was PRC4276 and bought a new, genuine Land Rover one off the web. When I went to fit it I noticed that the splines on this one are the same as the old one!

So, I looked up the spindle part number which was STC987 and bought a new, genuine Land Rover one off the web. When I went to fit it I noticed that the splines on this one are the same as the old one!

I don't want to sound as if I'm repeating myself but this has been going on for weeks! :mad:

Questions are;
  1. are the parts correct and should I be just hitting it a bit harder to get it on, or
  2. are there alternative part numbers with different spline coursenesses I should be buying? :confused:
Before you old-hands ask, I have trawled this and other forums for a clear answer but cannot find one anywhere!

Help would be appreciated! :)

I have had my wiper arms self eject on the motorway. After you have thumped it on then put a cable tie under the spindle and through the wiper arm spring. Shouldn't fly off on its own again
