Hi, advice needed please. I have 02 Discovery, windscreen wipers work on fast setting only but won't return to base when switched off. The other settings don't work at all but I can hear the relay clicking on intermittent mode, just no movement. Rear wipers work ok, but also now kick in when I select reverse. I'm not mechanically minded at all (I have the Landy to tow horse trailer with) so please can you explain to me in non techy language. Any help gratefully received as I also have no money to take it to the garage as I have a horse who turns all my cash into poop.
Thanks :)

Sounds like the motor switch drum or switch contacts are burnt out. A replacement wiper motor is the easiest fix. ;)

And if you put the vehicle into reverse AND you have the windscreen wipers on, the rear one on IS supposed to come on.
so that is one less thing to worry about!:)

Welcome to the forum by the way!!
(You might, when all this angst is over, wish to go to the "introduce yourself part of the forum"!;)

Can I just get the motor (I've seen the part I need on a salvage site) or do I have to get the whole part with wiper mechanism etc?

I personally wouldn't bother with second hand if new are available for sensible money.
A second hand one could be 3 wipes away from failure. ;)
