Classic Windscreen replacement

Bought a replacement windscreen for the classic and I'm really struggling to fit it. All brand new deals and windscreen. It's a 1984 non heated not that that should make a difference, anyone got any tips or can explain the easiest way to do a screen.

I've done defender screens which are easier in the sense that you can remove the whole frame
 
Well I've heard of two different ways, windscreen in seal first then fit them to the windscreen frame or fit the seal to the frame and then the windscreen.

Anyone have any views on what's easier
 
Sorry, all i can seem to find are inadvertent screen removal vids, ....not sure if the driver put clean underwear on this particular day, i doubt you could tell anyway!


Edit; Quite sickening watching it back actually, what a mess he left the countryside in!

I've read some nightmare stories of RRC windscreen fitting on other forums. One problem could be the dimensions of the aperture itself, this thread could be of interest:

I've finally done it. It's taken me on my own 7 hours today. But finally and thankfully the ordeal is over.

Never want to do one on a Range Rover again. And now it's raining so hopefully it doesn't leak.
 
If anyone is after a windscreen for a Range Rover classic try your local landy parts place first the quality of the service I reviewed from Devon 4x4 was top class.
After trying paddock all were special delivery and after sending payment they would say the windscreen couldn't be delivered due to the curvature of the screen and likely hood of damage which is fair enough.
I was passing my local place which is Devon 4x4 in south molton. At 4:30pm they close at 5:30pm I believe to order a screen for around the £60 mark. They told me it would be 3-4 days. The next morning at 11am they rung to say it was in and ready to be collected.
Any Devon members who read this and need parts quickly it is highly recommended to pay a visit.
 
Well done that man, but after reading the extent of your efforts do I assume that RRC screens are no longer available via the usual glass replacement outlets & what about an insurance claim following 'screen damage?
 
Well mines been off the road since 2002 so I have no insurance from Which to claim.

I believe the standard clear glass is readily available and auto glass and the likes can get hold of and fit it. I think the later heated screen is more difficult to source.

The only reason I did it myself was because I've done non bonded screens before and if I needed the help my dad has done loads on triumphs and mg's. However we tried for half an hour to get it in place between us on Sunday evening and struggled with the lack of light. I then had a day off work yesterday so thought I'd try and with nothing other than will power after a whole day I got it in single handed.

I should note most online Land Rover shops will not post the Range Rover windscreen as they aren't insured should the glass break in transit.

Thanks for that reassurance, my 'screen (possibly original, judging by the marks on the outside) has a tinted band at the top so if ever I have a claim I'll probably have to settle for a plain one.
