Just had my TD5 screen replaced. RAC Auto glass did a good tidy job. Told me it could be driven after 2½ hours. The LR workshop manual says leave it to cure for at least six hours - OK, ultra cautious maybe - but it then says "Warning, if vehicle is fitted with passenger airbag it must not be driven for 24 hours."
Just curious if anyone knows what possible reason they could have for this???

i bet its got some thing to do with the air bag hitting the windscreen if it goes off maby??
But if something sets the airbag off the screen is going to be the least of my worries! It must be something to do with the screen setting off the airbag sensors if the glue isn't fully cured? Maybe?
Needless to say I did drive it home and nothing nasty happened, but I'm just curious...

I asked my friend who used to be a windscreen fitter, he said it was just incase the airbag goes off and the force pushes the screen out if the seal is not set properly.

Martin was right then! Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. I still think that if I did something sufficiently drastic to set off the airbag a broken screen wouldn't be that big a deal!:):):)
