Disco 2 Windscreen question

Hi all!
After a long time owning my Disco, I'm thinking about getting an upgraded version with more electrics such as roof seats etc but my concern is if the element of the front heated windscreen is noticeable because I used to have a Mondeo with it and was a little annoying for me.

The one in ,my D1 Anniversary is not annoying at all to look through, but it has half failed now, the driver's side, obviously! To be honest, a kettle full of lukewarm water over the screen on a winter's morn, is that really too much trouble? As well as you will probably have enough in the kettle to do the drivers and front passenger's windows and rear view mirrors, and maybe even the rear window. Just put the wipers on intermittent once you have cleared both them and the screen of frost or snow. A heated front screen is only that. The side windows (which you need to see out of too) won't clear until the heater is functioning. and if you are going to wait for that, then the front screen will have cleared too. Maybe wait until you have to change out the screen due to breakage, crack, stonechip etc. Then you'll not pay much extra. (Of course you can always open the front windows, unless they are frozen up of course.)

I prefer a 10ltr watering can straight out of the kitchen hot tap, thoroughly thaws and demists the inside of the screen and side windows to the point where they can become warm to the touch inside on a frosty morning ;)
 
Mins is a 2000 model D2 and the windscreen still works fine baring a 3" strip in the middle. I had one on my 90 TDCI and loved it.
 
I rarely notice the elements in my D2's screen but in winter they do clear the screen of ice very quickly. But the 18 plate Transit we have at work I find the elements quite annoying when it's overcast or misty and they become quite noticeable against a light background.
 
One way of getting a new screen might be if the existing screen has a crack or a fault, then get it repaired under your insurance but pay the difference for the heated one. Depends where you drive, do you live anywhere near a quarry?!

By the way I've been sent some pictures of a Disco I'm interested in and I noticed that the 3rd row seats the left one foldes away completely different than mine taking up much more boot. Is there any advantage of this? Can it be either easy (just with a click or similar) removed or the trim swapped over another narrower trim without changing the seat?

Not sure what that's about, both the 7 seater D2s I've had have both seats folding in the same on both sides. I've never seen one with the left seat further out like that one. The problem you may have with trying to swap it to the conventional one is that I assume the boot floor is also different where the seat actually locks into the floor.
 
I have been doing a deeper search and that seat layout corresponds to some models that have 3rd row seats air conditioning so that space is occupied by the compressor then the only way to earn some more room is only by removing the left seat.
I assume you can't get rid of the compressor, pipes, etc, it doesn't worth it.
