Evening all,

Has anyone got a solution for fitting the windscreen back to a new bulkhead? The bulkhead I have from terrain tech has the brackets attached for the hinges but they aren't threaded to accept the pivot bolts.

The holes are too big to cut a thread into, but doesn't look like there's enough of a lip there to catch a rivnut.

Someone will have done this before, but can't see anything on a search.

Thanks

Are they meant just to have a through bolt if not threaded as originals?
If the tube through the hinge brackets are thick enough you could helicoil them.

Potentially a through bolt, but it would leave it looking a little messy.

The other problem is the inner diameter of the bracket tube is a fair bit bigger than the bolt, so to use a through bolt I'd need to take up that gap with a bush or something. That also means putting a helicoil in would be tricky, because by the time I'd ran a tap through the tube to accept the helicoil, the whole would be too big to fit the 5/16 coil.

Hmmm

Thanks, I'm waiting on them to get back to me about another issue so will see what they say.

I suspect, because its cheaper!

Hello WoodyO

I'v not been a member long... in fact a day maybe but have been rebuilding a Series 3 for a few years...
Yes, been there done that .... what a game with 'TT bulkhead', all-round issues....their little 'Yellow Paper slip' - is a 'get out of jail card played' by them....!

Yep - I engineered a fix, I can send direct to you picys and some Dims. But its worth 'double checking' your starting Dims... as with 'TT Bulkheads', their own Dims are to be desired....!

Basically - I had made, by a very local chap, 2 x plugs (from Silver Steel) with drilled en tapped to 5/16" UNF so to take a set of New original design fixing. But to effect you need to Drill the 'TT bulkhead' - windscreen 'Lugs' from the outer face, to the push (a little tap or two) fit with some metal paste, the photos explains more. Skip70
