windscreen fitting

I remember there was a link on here a while back on how to fit a defender windscreen with string.

Can't find the post and can't even work out how the new seal fits onto the frame.

Does the rubber go on the glass first or the frame?

Gone thru 2 screens:mad: already and only have one left....

a mate said it's better to use auto wire. string or wire?

put the rubber on the glass. utilities wire pulling rope is the best thing to use. feed it around the top and both sides of the glass then go around the bottom corners. put the rope inside the cab and then fit the screen into the bottom lip of the frame. get a mate to press firmly on the edgeds of the glass then you pull the rope out with yer mate following around the screen. its a piece of ****. the hardest part is getting the spreader seal back in once you have finished ;)

well as a post-script and following the sage wisdom plucked from this forum, I dun it.

Not to say there weren't a few hairy moments like when couldn't get the seal to stay on the window long enough to place it on the frame (it seemed very britpart-loose). And when the rope snapped. And when the window "bent" getting the last blastarding bit in, but suddenly thwung! It was in.

So thanks all.
