Hi ,
all i wonder if anyone has done this please?...I discovered mine is badly broken at both ends and in the middle and I have water collecting just under neath at the top two corners of the engine bay.The rubber gutters are in place and look okay.I have washed them and put them back in.

I have been watching the video...link below and it does not look to hard...bit that worries me is the bonnet as due to age and bad health I am very weedy....On the video he has missed out a central HEX bolt on the unit and my hinge securing bolts do not reveal primer underneath, perhaps my car has been re sprayed? As I am confined to barracks thought be a nice job for me I think am allowed on the drive.

Seems so many different names for this part...I have a used one from a breaker on e bay at £40.00

Any experience would be great !

My cowl is cracked all to hell in the middle also. Waiting to repalce it.
As for those 2 side rubber gutters, I find they work better when they are silicone sealed onto the cowl.

Yes it looks as simple as it is, and wow u have a video show to do it.
What would we do without the internet and forums, maybe just get on with it and undo everything that’s in the way, and probably removing the bonnet completely (due to not knowing the ‘top tip’ of just sliding it forward) and of course the skill in remembering how to put it all back together in reverse.

If you don’t have the marks made by washers make your own with a pencil, simples :)

Thank you for your comments...appreciated.I am always wary of these U tube videos as i had a plumbing job to do....I hate plumbing, but on U tube a plumber changed a siphon and ball cock in 7 minutes and had no leaks.
I did the same, took me a good half a day and I had leaks.
Th guy in the video is a master mechanic, where as I am not. I have done as you suggest discool and marked the hinges with a pencil.

I have got the twos scrivets out, central bolt and wipers, now the bonnet.I think the old panel will come out in 3 bits.I am not sure how i missed it when i bought it, but did not see...probably blinded by my desire for another Disco.

Cannot work out how the panel works as the pollen filter part is not connected to anything that i can see?

There u r then u. have a plan :)
It’s an ideal time to replace the foam filter perhaps, unless your stuff stays together and doesn’t fall a part as soon as touched. Unfortunately the aquarium shops are close as that’s the place to buy a sheet of foam that can be cut into strips to suit and u only pay a third of the price that LR require.

Well loose plan...bit scared of the bonnet.Back up plan is ring the garage I use and ask them to come out and fix it if I cannot do it.! They are open still....I bought a strip of foam from e bay...£8.95 post paid.Bit of a rip off but needed it...next time fish shop. ..been looking at it again cannot see the cowl connects to anything, to me its bit of a cover.Still be nice to have its done.

Hi all,
as it is a lovely sunny day I did it,I followed the video clip and it was okay, hardest bit was getting the clips up underneath the windscreen. The mechanic mentions this in the clip.Bonnet did not fall off!.......I wanted to replace the top seal part number DDL100540, they now only come with the complete scuttle panel, which is several £100s .So I reused the old one. I tried all suppliers and was told no longer available. So i have been trying to find something I could use,I found this company https://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/seals-products.asp?intDepartmentId=68
They do a moulding reference ETS3241 .

I painted the second-hand panel with 3 coats of satin black acrylic to tidy it up.I will let you know how the seal I have ordered works its not the same size, but better than what I have. It took me about 11/2 hours to do. I did fiddle around a bit lubing the wiper mechanism etc.

Hi all,
the seal came today from Seals Direct, I mentioned earlier, this is for the scuttle panel to windscreen you cannot get the original unless you buy a new panel. It only comes with the panel now, not a separate item...bit of a cash creator for Land Rover.

It fits well ,the replacement seal has rubber barbs on it so is quite hard to get on and it has a metal shaping piece, it really grips when on, compared to the LR one which is 20 years old, although on the video the mechanic mentioned the LR ones fall off easy from new.

The seal is bigger, but I think it will do the job. see picture below. covers more of the panel and has the "banana" top part which is floppy to go up against the screen. next to it is an original to compare.
I have not fitted it to the car yet as when i replaced the panel i put sealer between the rubber and the windscreens will need to clean it out.
Having just done it, do not want to destroy it yet....I will be doing it.

The heater inlet is below this seal and can cause leaks on passenger floor i found with my old Disco, along with many other things ,but the design of this is odd its open, you can see where it is with the panel in place by looking for 2 of the lower bolts on the passenger side, picture below of it. Directly above this i sealed it up very tight....well hope so,!
