I decided to start a new thread with photo's, but the email hasn't arrived yet :rolleyes:

Anyway I will edit with the photo's when they arrive, but I have to go set up a wedding....

So we know I was having window trouble in that it all of a sudden stopped working. Hamish plugged in his super computer and checked out the whole system. Everything was fine apart from the window. He suggested a plug or wire in the door or in the "A" pillar.

I removed a tonne of plastic, traced the fault to the purple wire & blue trace, checked every connection I could see, but nothing!

Traced it all the way back to the BECM and right there on the plug was a grotty connection, barely noticable. It was caused by damp and it was one little bit where the carpet meets the seat base. Obviously with me using the car, some condensation has formed and et voila, a problem was caused.

I am now aware there is a possibility for more and worse problems to come if I don't deal with it. So, an old sock and some cat litter to soak up the little bit of damp and a monthly check, weekly in winter.

I only say this because it is the design that has created this problem so a fix is obviously required.

Anyway, I cleaned it up, applied some contact cleaner and bent the pin on the BECM up slightly so it would be a tighter connection when I re-plugged it and the window burst into life :D:cool::)

But after tearing my hair out it turned out to be an easy repair. Clearly the corrosion caused the voltage drop and stopped the window.

I am convinced it was after I had held the button down to "set" the window. It likely caused some burning and the resistance went into outer space o_O

Oh, and Kenny did the AC with his all singing & dancing Air Con thingy. It sucks out any condensation then recharges the gas & oil. I must admit to being a bit of a fanny (Scottish term for idiot :D ) because the AC switch is a bit foreign to me, so I was switching it off rather than on and couldn't, for the life of me, figure out what was wrong with the pump? :eek:

I figured it on the journey home :p

Well done on the windows....simples really!!

Damp can be caused by leaking O rings to the heater matrix, simple repair but a sod for access.....get this checked out before it really does fry the BeCM...

Aye, I'm from a long line of fannies :D

My mother has a fanny, my granny has a fanny, but apparently, I "AM" a fanny :D:po_O:rolleyes::D

Also, after Hamish reset the fuel trims, the fuel usage has dropped way down. To the point I can get a decent journey on my 20 litre tank.... New tank will be fitted soon as I get a chance, but I may need some help.

Anyone have a PDF of the fuel pipe set up?

I rather think they have done away with some bits when they took out the main tank :confused:

+1. No damp anywhere in mine, even after wading with water halfway up the doors (don't tell Wammers!)
 
It's very localised, looks like wet feet that never got a chance to dry. There are no other wet bits anywhere.

I did find where the coolant is weeping from though, under the throttle body. Teeny weeny little weep.

I'm going to live with it and see if it self seals. If not, mo money.... :rolleyes:
