Morning all, drivers side window made a loud bang yesterday and jammed ..I've taken it all apart today, and the regulator is shot. Problem was that I couldn't wind it down to release window etc, so had to dismantle with the window up. When I get the part, will the motor "know" it's in the up position, therefore requiring me to run it down before I reinstall.. Or does the motor just run until it meets resistance, so I don't need to worry?.. Also does anyone know what the retaining strip on the bottom of the glass is called?.. Mine is rotted through, but I can't seem to find a replacement online? Cheers

Yup pain in the arse getting it out when jammed in the up position but a doddle to get the new one in from the down position. The bottom retaining strip is known as a lift channel. Think they were bonded to the glass on the D2 although D1 (Part no. ALR8022) might be available separately with the rubber.

Thanks for that, I'll take a look.. Could probably just pour some epoxy over the existing one if all else fails. Was a challenge to get out, disconnected the motor and regulator , then the a-frame with the window and just managed to lift high enough to undo the bolts holding the channel to the regulator through the top of the door.. Hence making a bit of a mess of the lift channel! Good advice from this forum as always though. .thanks!
