Hi all,

I have just replaced the drivers window regulator on my 2002 TD4 due to a snapped cable, easy enough job, but now the window’s direction is reversed when I use the switch, what have I done wrong?

Cheers

Thanks Odenne,

When I replaced the regulator it was a complete unit and I have not removed the switch, I don't think the wires on the motor are on wrong as the plug will only go on one way.

I bought the regulator from Island 4x4 and I am wondering if they sold me the right one?

Don't know a huge amount about this, just trying to think logically...
Is it possibly that the unit was installed with the window in the opposite position to the unit's factory default - ie the window was up and the unit thought it was down?

I have tried disconnecting then reconnecting the battery but nothing happened, just the rear window went down.

I fitted a new one to mine yesterday and had none of the above problems. Also I never knew I had to discon the battery.

Seems like the fault is with the regulator and Island 4x4 have agreed to send a replacement.

I will let you know what happens when it arrives.

The manufacturer has wired the regulator wrongly. The cables can only wrap around the spindle in one way, so its not those.

Speaking of regulators, had to change a friends regulator for an MGTF last night, motor is foobarred, we are talking £85 plus VAT.

Any suggestions for a cheaper alternative?
